Tahoetruckeenews.com is the central point of the Tahoe Truckee Community News & Information Network, a newly-developed array of locally owned and operated news and information services created by the New Tahoe Company, LLC of Tahoe City, CA. This network and its affiliated websites, are being created to be a central source providing daily local community news coverage and useful information of value and interest to area locals and visitors.
COMMUNITY NEWS & INFORMATION
Tahoetruckeenews.com will provide accurate, objective, timely
news coverage of community-interest stories that Tahoe/Truckee
area residents will find useful. The format is less traditional
"news" stories, and more 'blog-like' community-related coverage.
We seek to cover issues of local interest and concern and welcome
article submissions from residents and others.
SCENIC & TRAFFIC WEBCAMS
Our network of cameras, currently being installed around the region,
will provide both scenic and practical live, updated images containing
useful and vital visual information, including traffic status
from key areas of concern.
Traffic Cams: The Tahoe City WYE Traffic Cam is now operational, providing live, streaming video of the Tahoe City WYE intersection of Highway 89 and Highway 28, 24/7/365. Additional cameras are planned at the Highway 89 and Interstate 80 intersection (site of great construction activity in summer 2005) in Kings Beach at Highway 267, along the West Shore, and during the winter at key ski resort intersections along Highway 89
Scenic Cams: There is perhaps no more beautiful place in the world and our network of scenic webcams, placed at popular locations around North Lake Tahoe and Truckee will allow people to "visit Lake Tahoe and Truckee anytime, from anywhere." Planned locations include Sunnyside Resort, Tahoe City Marina, River Ranch, Downtown Truckee, Kings Beach, and more.
Traffic Alerts: During peak periods, we will offer updated hotlines, via phone, websites, and text messaging of important traffic status information. Our intention is to better inform visitors, residents, and businesses of traffic status, so as to decrease peak perod impacts and increase the enjoyable experience.
OPEN SOURCE SHARED REGIONAL EVENT MASTER CALENDAR
For many years the North Tahoe/Truckee region has lacked a one-source,
comprehensive community event calendar. This has continually resulted
in ineffective regional marketing and many conflicting event dates
within the region. Many reasonsfor this exist, including the understandable
desire of businesses to maintain control of their own content
and web visitors. We are proud to have created an answer to this
issue with the development of a completely generic, shared code,
one-source Tahoe Truckee Event calendar. Our staff will update
this calendar with events from any part of the region (provided
information is submitted) Any registered partner can place the
code for this generic calendar on their site at no charge. Of
course we don't expect anyone to forego their own elements, so
we simply request a basic link, with or without a graphic to the
Regional Event Master Calendar. For more information on this exciting
development, contact us.
