Sunset Hikes in Squaw Valley Starting at High Camp Join us for one of our weekly guided tours from High Camp, el. 8200', to the peaks of Squaw Valley as the sun sets. We have expanded the hiking options to include evening Sunset Hikes, offering guests the opportunity to experience the peace, tranquility and stunning beauty of the upper mountain in the evening twilight. Sunset Hikes last approximately 1-2 hours. These are casually paced hikes with the hike destination and route customized to the group’s size and interest. The hikes explore easy to moderate terrain and hikers are free to walk at their own pace. Hikers of all ages and abilities welcome and no reservations are needed. Please note that all hikes start at 6pm at the top of the Cable Car. Please register with your guide between 5:30 and 6pm at the top of the Cable Car. Guests encouraged to arrive between 5 and 6pm so they can ride the Cable Car to High Camp. You are asked to wear sturdy shoes and warm clothes, and bring water and a flashlight. Soaring Kites & Music Festival Squaw Valley USA High Camp, at the top of the Cable Car, offers one of the most spectacular and unique kite flying locations in the world. Squaw Valley is proud to be hosting a 7th year of this special event featuring kite flying demonstrations, kids kite building seminars, and general kite mania, featuring great, live music on our summer stage all day long at High Camp. The Northern California Kite Club and Reno Nevada Kite Club will again help organize this event, bringing some spectacular kites and eager enthusiasts to the unique high altitude location. High Camp's summer breezes are counted on to provide the necessary lift for the series of exciting demonstrations. Participants are invited to bring their own kites, or, kites will be available for sale at the site. Also planned are kite-making seminars and kids programs. Come spend a day by the pool or in Squaw Valley's beautiful upper mountain meadows and enjoy the thrill and spectacle of kite flying and live blues music at High Camp offers summer fun and activities for everyone! Art, Wine & Music Festival Squaw Valley USA Come participate or just stroll through the 7th annual Squaw Valley Art Wine and Music Festival. DATES: SATURDAY & SUNDAY, JULY 19-20 10am-6pm This staple two-day event has become a summer time favorite for locals and visitors alike. Squaw Valley's base village will burst with color, taste, and sound as fine artists, craftsmakers, performers and musicians come to participate in this fun annual celebration of art and music. Downhill Mountain Bike Race Series Northstar-at-Tahoe Northstar® Resort’s downhill terrain offers the perfect venue for this tooth rattling, downhill challenge! Registration is $30 ($40 for open class) and will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 9:45 a.m. in the Village at Northstar™ Season Pass & Tickets Office the morning of the event. Racer lift tickets are $30 (must have proof of registration). Lifts open to competitors at 10:00 a.m and the first race begins at 12:00 p.m. Format will be a 1 run race. USA Cycling license is not required. Helmets are required. Over 20 divisions for men, women and juniors, beginner through open class. Top three in each division receive awards. Cash prize to men’s and women’s open classes and Northstar Resort mountain bike ticekts will be raffled off at each event!
